Chubb's " Improved" patent detector lock

Patented in 1824 the improvement refers to the see-saw detector bar over the levers. The detector is so placed as to operated upon by the tumblers of the lock when the whole or any of them are raised too high.

This example was taken from a safe and can be dated to 1838.
